Your counter text stays in your browser
Counting runs on your device. The counter saves text under savedText in your browser's local storage so it can restore your work. This is available even when you refuse all optional purposes. Clearing the counter removes its saved content; clearing this site's browser storage also removes it. Privacy-choice changes do not delete your text.
We do not send raw counter text to analytics, session replay, affiliate systems, research tools or AI services. The counter and article-search input are masked for Microsoft Clarity. Counter analytics use numerical lengths and interaction counts, not the words you write. Search measurement uses result-count buckets, never your search terms. Avoid entering sensitive text on a shared device because other people using that browser may be able to reopen it.
Choose, refuse or withdraw optional consent
On a fresh visit, optional purposes are off. Accept All, Refuse All and Customize are available at the same level. Scrolling, waiting or continuing to browse does not grant consent. Open Privacy / cookie settings in the footer of any page to review or change your choice. Refuse All there withdraws every optional purpose.
We store the choice, configuration version and choice/expiry times in cookieConsent for six months. An expired, invalid or older configuration asks again. Refusal is remembered for the same period as acceptance. If browser storage is unavailable, preferences cannot be remembered across visits.
Optional services and storage
- Analytics and session replay: Google Tag Manager loads our existing Google Analytics 4 tag, and Microsoft Clarity also loads before you make a choice. Before a choice and after refusal, they receive limited cookieless measurements, including page and technical information, under denied consent. This does not mean no information is sent. These denied states do not set normal analytics identity cookies. Analytics consent allows cookie-based measurement and continuity: GA4 may set
_gaand_ga_4PTVV0WG1S; Clarity may set_clckand_clsk. Consented interactions include numerical counter use, Copy, Clear, article-search result counts and affiliate-link clicks. They do not establish affiliate revenue. - Marketing: the former Impact impression script is disabled. Direct affiliate destinations retain their existing attribution parameters. The separate marketing choice enables Google's advertising storage, advertising data use and personalization signals, and Microsoft's advertising storage signal. Consented services may contact additional Google, Clarity and Bing domains and set third-party cookies. Analytics-only consent leaves those advertising signals denied.
- Support and external links: Ko-fi is a direct link; no Ko-fi widget, script, image or font is loaded by our pages. Affiliate links and the Ko-fi link work without optional consent. Following a link visits another service, whose own privacy terms and tracking practices apply. We may earn a commission from purchases through disclosed affiliate links.
What withdrawal does
Withdrawal updates Google and Clarity to the purposes you refused. When analytics is refused, cookie-based analytics stops and limited cookieless measurement continues. Clarity returns to no-consent mode. We clear accessible first-party analytics/marketing cookies and related storage for purposes you refused. Your savedText is preserved. This does not erase data already received by providers or cookies belonging to another domain; those can be managed through the provider or your browser's site-data controls.
Hosting and providers
Cloudflare hosts the site and necessarily handles connection information such as IP addresses and HTTP requests to serve and protect it. Counter text is not submitted as part of those requests. Optional providers can process information outside your country under their own service terms. For provider details and privacy controls, see Cloudflare, Google, Microsoft, Impact and Ko-fi.
Contact and requests
For questions or privacy requests, the site's published contact is contact@count-character.com. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, withdraw consent or complain to a supervisory authority. Contact the relevant provider for information held solely by that provider. We will update this notice when this setup changes.
